Does God exist

You watch a movie on the supernatural, read a book or any article on the supernatural and it makes you think if there is actually anything like this that exists. Education and your thinking mind makes you want to ridicule the whole concept. But deep in our hearts we know that there is something that controls and governs what happens around us. Not everything is in our hands. We like to call it destiny, easy way out!! But come to think of it. What is destiny? Do we really want to say that everything has been decided for us beforehand? If yes, then who’s deciding all this? And on what basis?
Is it God? But then have we seen God? No, we haven’t. So, effectively we just want to believe in the existence of something that is controlling us , our lives, watching over us and keeping things in check. Even though we haven’t seen him (or her), we just want to believe that there is something so that we are conscious about our actions. Further, we would have something to attribute our bad fortune to.
And then are there multiple Gods? Or there is just one God? Some say God is one. In that case, how would you attribute the different names and the fact that some cultures have Gods and Goddesses while some have just one God. How do you map? If we consider Hindu mythology, there are Gods and Goddesses and sons and daughters who are also gods and goddesses. How would you draw an analogy between them and the Christian Gos, for example.
Funny, isn’t it? That we can live with such contradictions. And never think about it. Or rather don’t want to think about it. Even if we do, we don’t want to talk about it. What’s the point in starting an argument or a controversy?
Its difficult to say whether there is any single supernatural power that governs us or not. And its even more difficult to prove such an existence. But what can believe and accept is that God exists within us , as our conscience. Guiding us at every point, being our best critic and our guiding force towards good and bad. You can’t lie to it, can’t hide from it. So, let it be the power that makes you think before you do anything. If you need a fear-factor to make you act in a noble way, then let it be the one.
