Believe in God??

I watched the movie "Oh My God" quite recently ( haven't had the time to watch loads of movies) but then that is not the point here...
I was very very pleased after watching the movie..it just highlighted the double standards and the hypocrisy that is so prevalent in the Indian society, Not only that, it probably forced me to write about all the things that I normally choose to ignore or not talk about. Simply because I dont want to start a discussion that might potentially end up in an argument.

Most people just fail to understand that most concepts in today's society have been made to maintain order!!
That's it...as in the movie Mithun's character very rightly put it : God-fearing not God-loving....
Man in himself has created a super-power..the all-mighty, the "sarvavyapi"...one who exists everywhere..
but then man has retained the power to build a temple/mosque/church ..whatever they like and then limit "God" in those enclosed walls...WOW!!  simply amazing..

In one such discussion with a friend, she mentioned temples are such nice places, you feel so much at peace....so connected with the supreme being and I am like "OK!! but do you even think why?"

Yes, I am not an atheist....I believe in a supreme power ..a force greater than all we know ..but personification of it..I dont know!!

As for having a peaceful and serene feeling in a temple or any religious place, I would attribute that to the vibes and the energies....of the people visiting the place. Noone is making any nasty or evil plans in those places, either you are "down" and you need strength or you are happy and want to thank God...either way there is a positive attitude to it all...

No matter what people believe or like to believe I would always say that being nice to the people "God" created is much easier and better way of worship...
What say!!

( Not a typical fancy ending .....getting back into the grove...perhaps later)

Family Problems : US vs India

Two men, an American and an Indian were sitting in a bar and discussing about their family problems..
Shot after shot...

The Indian man said to the American, 'We have problem in India we can't marry the one whom we love, You know my parents are forcing me to get married to this so called homely girl from a village whom I haven't even met once.' We call this arranged marriage. I don't want to marry a woman whom I don't love... I told them that openly and now
have a lot of family problems.'

The American said, talking about love marriages... In America We can marry the one whom we love.. I'll tell you my story. 'I married a widow whom I deeply loved and dated for 3 years. After a couple of years, my father fell in love with my step-daughter and married her, so my father became my son-in-law and I became my father's father-in-law. Legally now my daughter is my mother and my wife my grandmother. More problems occurred when I had a son. My son is my father's brother and so he is my uncle.
Situations turned worse when my father had a son. Now my father's son, my brother is my grandson. Ultimately, I have become my own grandfather and I am my own grandson. And you say you have family problems.'

The Indian fainted........!!
Oh My God!!

It is after as very very long time that I saw such a refreshing and meaningful movie. It might have gone a bit overboard here and there but the message was clear. The thought behind the movie is clear : society needs change and its time someone got it about.
Paresh Rawal was such a delight to watch. The sarcasm on his face while dealing with the "ignorance",the attitude when he proves he is right and all the show-downs with the God men were very gripping. The Krishna avatar Akshay Kumar was a bit far-fecthed but I guess that's what movies are about.

Mithum Chakarvarty excelled as the God-man.

As he very aptly put it "these are not God-loving people, these are God fearing people".It described our society appropriately and all the people who capitalise on the fears!!

A must watch movie and I am so glad that it also got the National Award. I half-expected the religious sects and the groups to go up against the movie with all their might.

Thankfully they spared this movie and we got to see a delightfully meaningful movie, very much needed in the present India.....
